What Skim Coating Does
A Fresh Surface Without New Drywall
Skim coating is the application of thin layers of joint compound over an entire wall or ceiling, then sanding it smooth. It hides years of patches, old texture, torn paper, wallpaper damage and uneven spots that paint alone can’t cover — without the cost and mess of replacing the drywall.
It is a common step when converting textured walls to a smooth modern finish, after removing popcorn ceilings or wallpaper, or when a room with many repairs needs to look uniform. We protect the room, repair any damaged areas first, apply and sand the skim coats, then prime so the surface is ready for paint.
